Exploration

The application of Structural Geology to exploration projects is the second main tier of TECT’s work

For more than two decades TECT has, individually and as a member of larger consulting teams, provided structural mapping, structural analysis, geophysical data interpretation, targeting and 3D prospect or deposit modelling to clients across Africa and the Middle East. TECT’s Associate Consultants and Associate Researchers have extended this experience beyond Africa and the Middle East, to Armenia, Bulgaria, Canada, Columbia, Finland, Greenland, Ireland, Mongolia, Serbia, Siberia and Spain

We have addressed a range of mineralization types, including shear-zone-hosted, orogenic and Birimian Au, diamonds, ultramafic PGE and Cr, stratiform and remobilized base metals, CRD, IOCG, IOA, supergene and metamorphic Fe, alkali leucogranite- and sediment-hosted U, REE, coal, Gemstones and petroleum

We apply our strong research focus to each exploration project

TECT has a strong research focus and has applied this successfully to extensive mineral targeting projects, using mineral system, weights of evidence and model-driven techniques. Our forte is the compilation of multi-layered regional data sets, the extraction of key parameters for use in a variety of targeting techniques and the precise, ongoing guidance of our client’s exploration teams to maximise each project’s success whilst reducing exploration costs

Maintaining a spatial database focused on Africa

TECT is constantly updating and developing its knowledge on metallogenic belts. To this end, we maintain a spatial database, hosted at geopoint.co.za, which is focussed on Africa. This allows us to rapidly find and categorize regional, contextual data and academic studies on any project area, which augments the literature review at the start of any project. Our strong academic ties, via the Principal Members and Associate Researchers of TECT, allow us to access up-to-date literature and thereby to keep track of ongoing developments in ore deposit models and the resolution of metallogenic belts

We have worked closely with Geophysicists in the development of regional targeting strategies, incorporating unconstrained and constrained 3D geophysical data inversions, applying a combination of Leapfrog, Micromine and GoCAD SKUA. These ground-breaking workflows and their products have significantly augmented our client’s exploration success
